Chainmail Lorica Hamata, 8mm – 18 Gauge Butted Round Ring
This Lorica Hamata is made from alternating wedge riveted, flat, mild steel rings that have been finished with a zinc coating. Every row of links that have been riveted is followed by an alternating row of non-riveted, integrated links. This is done to bring down the man-hours required to create this armor and bring down its cost to the consumer. The shoulder pieces are lined with leather and the chest hooks are made from brass. In fact, in mail armour between the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC, as shown by finds and depictions (e.g. details of Gallic armors from the Pergamon Altar), the humeralia are attached by using a front plate.
